Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

I like to have a wide desktop, so i used to plug an extra monitor to my laptop, so now that i updated ubuntu 11.04 with the last headers and other stuffs i tried it again, but it didn't work, my laptop got slow, the background changed to black with some stripes but it didn't freeze, so i turn off the extra monitor from ubuntu and before that i unplugged it, this bug appeared.

PS 4 UDT(Ubuntu Development Team) You are doing a great job, keep it that way =)

This bug is stopping of migrate from 10.10 to 11.04. I tested ubuntu 11.04 on other computer, an Acer Aspire One also with intel graphics and the problem persists there too, if i try to plug an extra monitor, the graphics of the computer gets screwed and they don't go back to normal until i turn off and unplug the extra monitor.

I think the problem is the mobile Intel graphic express chipset, so i have found this:
http://intellinuxgraphics.org/documentation.html

is something about that in ubuntu distributions?

Upstream seems to feel this issue was resolved as of the attached patch to mesa. Would be worth testing.

the commit is not in 7.11.x stable release, and doesn't apply there. In fact, that function doesn't even exist in 7.11 (intel_set_texture_image_region()), so I'm marking this as wontfix.

Actually, the code is still present, just that upstream refactoring shuffled it around. It is now in intel_image_target_texture_2d().
