Bug Description

Binary package hint: brother-cups-wrapper-common

Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04

Brother DCP-770CW scanner driver installed from:
http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agreement/agreement.cgi?dlfile=http://www.brother.com/pub/bsc/linux/dlf/brscan2-0.2.5-1.i386.deb&lang=English_sane
http://www.brother.com/cgi-bin/agreement/agreement.cgi?dlfile=http://www.brother.com/pub/bsc/linux/dlf/brscan-skey-0.2.1-3.i386.deb&lang=English_lpr

Installation using Software Center failed, but since my scanner won't work without these drivers, I installed using sudo dpkg -i <package>.

Every now and then this error pops up, however scanning (and printing) does work.

Installing this package in Ubuntu 10.10 didn't bring up the error in the Software Center, and it didn't use to show the periodic error message in the summary in 10.10 either.

The version of the drivers used in 10.10 is the same as in 11.04.

I'm not sure if this is Brother's fault, since the package used to work just fine in 10.10.
