ubuntustudio-controls will not be included in the Natty release since the current version is outdated. A new version will hopefully be shipped with Ubuntu Studio 11.10.

Also, the functionality of the current ubuntustudio-controls is not needed in Natty for two reasons. One: firewire works out of the box. 2: installing jackd creates the file /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf which gives realtime privilege to @audio group.

In order to get realtime privilege for the user, all that is needed is to become a member of audio group.

Just want to add why it is outdated:

firewire settings don't apply anymore, because the firewire stack has changed.

editing memlock and nice value will cause /etc/security/limits.conf to be edited.
We don't want to edit that file, and if we did, we would edit /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf
