Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpilot

I synced my palm tx using kpilot several times. It was regularly inconsistent in being able to even connect. It hotsynced several times, but didn't actually back up any data. Further, several times it actually blew away all data on my palm.

Yes, that looks like a possibility. I will try the compile-from-source solution offered in that bug and report back whether it works.

With respect, please don't be too hasty to close bugs. KPilot is now completely non-functional, as I cannot connect. Every time I plug in, the USB device is different; even if I've set permissions on it before, these are blown away. KPilot doesn't work as root either. I consistently get I/O errors. So, until the KPilot install does the right things to the USB daemon to avoid these problems, and I can verify that the bug is resolved, please leave this bug open.
