Bug Description

Binary package hint: seahorse

This bug affects both 2.30 and 2.32 (Lucid and Maverick).

When you open Seahorse find some password and open its properties window, CPU usage skyrockets. It's not exactly a major problem, but it also doesn't seem necessary.

One of the reason why Seahorse could be hammering your CPU is because hardware random number generator tools are not running. The other day I noticed increase in CPU utilization and then noticed that rng-tools are not running (the normal rng traffic would not show up in tcpdump). I suggest that you check your tpm or prng to make sure it is doing what it should. Anyhow, as soon as I started rng-tools, cpu utilization normalized. An interesting question is why rng suddenly stopped...
