Bug Description
Not sure which packaqe this is related to but I'm seeing it on two laptops and on both it started happening after the upgrade to KDE 4.6.2.
Machine 1 : Acer Aspire One running Kubuntu Natty, fully updated as of today.
Machine 2 : Samsung R780 running Kubuntu Maverick, with KDE 4.6.2 installed from the kubuntu-backports PPA
On both machines, if I select 'Shut Down The Computer' from the main menu, or the logout button on the taskbar, the system drops to a login prompt on tty1 and stops there. Switching back tty7 shows that X has exited. If I press the power button the shutdown then continues. The first message I see on tty1 is 'acpid exiting' and then the plymouth screen appears and the shutdown completes.
Other observations:
In Kubuntu's power management I have the action for the Power Button to be 'Shutdown'. Pushing the power button while logged in to KDE makes the keyboard and desktop become unresponsive. My only course of action then is to hold the power button down to do a forced shutdown of the machine.
As I say, shutdown was working fine on both machines when I had KDE 4.6.1. It's only since the upgrade to 4.6.2 that I've noticed this.
