I would like to request a backport for the slapd-2.3.29-1 package.

The package meets the backport requirements:

1. The package is in feisty.
2. The package builds cleanly from the Feisty source achives (apt-get source -b openldap2.3).
3. The package depends on libldap-2.3-0 (=2.3.29-1), but that library is compiled as part of the apt-get source command, and can be installed side-by-side with libldap-2.2-7.
4. The package doesn't change language interpreters or compilers.
5. The package fixes deadlock issues, and include samba/kerberos integration support

This backport is requested because of new features available in openldap-2.3 (samba/kerberos integration through the smbk5pwd overlay), bug fixes included in the openldap-2.3 serie (deadlock fixes) and lack of support from the openldap developers on the 2.2x serie.

Needs confirmation for 2.3.30-2.

2.3.30-2 fails to compile due to cyrus-sasl dependencies.

2.3.30-2 and also the newest stable 2.3.35 will build on edgy if you disable the sasl support.

Howto build the source package of slapd from feisty on edgy:
 - add the feisty repository (the deb-src one) to apt and do apt-get update
 - apt-get source slapd
 - you will now get the newest slapd from feisty
 - cd openldap2.3-2.3.30
 - edit the file: debian/configure.options and disable the following lines (by place a # in front of the line):
     --enable-spasswd
     --with-cyrus-sasl
 - now run the following command: debuild -uc -us -rfakeroot

if that gives any errors at building look at your build dependencies.
