Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

I don't generally use banshee as a media player, so this may be it's default behaviour regardless of UI. I've only tested under Unity. If it does the same under other UIs I'd still argue that it's a bug.

Open Banshee, choose media to play.
Go to view, click fullscreen.
Now imagine with no clues how you're supposed to get out of fullscreen. If you were observant enough you might have seen the 'F' key indication beside the option, but most people aren't observant.
If you can get in to a state by using a mouse, you ought to be able to get out of it using just the mouse. There are no icons or options anywhere in the Banshee window itself to drop out of full screen mode, and the menu bar is gone along with the top bar, and the unity dock (doesn't appear when you go to the far left)

I managed to get out of it because I hit F11 on the basis that is what works on some browsers, but that's highly dependent on people being aware of the keyboard shortcut, and I'd argue most people aren't.

Attached is a screenshot of full screen banshee, in-case it's useful.

Just double checked under Ubuntu Classic on Natty. Looks like it is Unity specific. In non-unity environments the menu bar is attached to the window, even under full screen.

I am not agree with you, actually if you move your mouse to any direction a down menu is displayed and has a big button (at least to me) where I can leave fullscreen status (check my attached screenshot)

That's interesting Kamus. Following what you showed, I did some further investigating. That "Leave fullscreen" button only seems to come up when you go to the "Now Playing" option on the left hand side. If you're full screen already from the library and click on the Now Playing option, the album art window takes up the main section of the screen. Bottom right shows a "Repeat Off" option, just like on my original screenshot, however "Fullscreen" does appear on top right. If you then double click the album art area to make it go full screen we get the "Fullscreen" button on the bottom right like you showed.

I'd still argue this is a bug/problem. That fullscreen option seems to only appear when you're in the Now Playing section of Banshee, which isn't the default (even double clicking an album to open it doesn't jump you in to Now Playing)

Ah, I see what you mean. When not running Unity, the menu is there, allowing you
to click on View->Fullscreen.

But then I don't think this is a Banshee specific interface bug. You can
fullscreen and unfullscreen any window using Ctrl+Alt+Enter (the configured
keybinding for fullscreen in Compiz), and few applications, if any, allow you to
exit fullscreen using the mouse without a menu.

I'm going to mark this as affecting unity -- I think the Unity guys can provide
some useful input on the matter.

Yes, there is no trivial way to exit from a full-screen Banshee on the default Natty Beta 2 environment with Unity.
And you can't reach the sidebar, so you're trapped (if you don't know about the hotkeys).
