Yeah, I was hoping to try out Gnome Shell again, since last time I saw it was in August or so.

Hellow ,I solved this probelm.Here is the step:
First ,you shold Download gnome-icon-theme_2.91.93-1_all.deb from here:
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/all/gnome-icon-theme/download
Second,you shold remove "gnome-icon-theme 3.0.0-0ubuntu1~build1" in Ubuntu software center.
Finally,Install gnome-icon-theme_2.91.93-1_all.deb in Termianl like this:
sudo dpkg -i gnome-icon-theme_2.91.93-1_all.deb
That's all.

I grabbed the released source from Gnome git and hacked it just enough to get it to build and install, here:

http://static.andrewpendleton.net/gnome-icon-theme-symbolic_2.99.0+really3.0.0_all.deb

Should work okay as a stopgap.
