Open Kword, new standard A4 document. The flashing Cursor doesn't move from it's starting position and am unable to select any text that has been entered.

This should be fixed ASAP, this bugg makes Kword pretty useless! Moving the cursor is the essential thing in a word processing application. For now, it's like driving a car without steering.

I have the same bug. But i think it isn't kubuntu bug, it is KDE bug. Because i have the same bug in Arch... It's very bad for me.

Correct, this bug has nothing to do with the operating system in use. It's not a "KDE bug" either. The bug is in Kword it self. I also noticed that this does not apply when opening a previous document from OpenOffice or LibreOffice, this is the only time the cursor actually work. But if I select all text, and deletes it, the bug reappears again.

This bug as i know not present in new koffice -> calligra 2.3.7... and more. And has a patch for this bug. But in *buntu present in ppa only koffice 2.3.3 (instead of project neon), and this bug is still present in oneric because - koffice 2.3.3.

I can confirm that Kword 2.3.3-0ubuntu6 now works without cursor problem. This happen after I upgraded to Oneric tho, not sure if it's available for Natty?
