Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
System: Toshiba Satellite A105-S4384 running Ubuntu 6.10 amd64. (freshly updated as of today)
Problem:
Logging out of GNOME results in system hang.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start UbuntuLinux 6.10 amd64 on aforementioned hardware model.
2. Login to GNOME via gdm.
3. Logout via System->Logout
Comments:
Using i810 video driver.
Other problems that could indicate a deeper root cause include usplash corruption (bluish color, almost like RGB->BGR transposed, progress bar appears incorrectly,) synaptics driver causing kernel panic on X11 start, Modeswitching in Quake3 while running beryl causing kernel panic. I will attempt installing 32bit Ubuntu 6.10 in a couple of weeks to see if this is an amd64 specific problem. lspci and dmesg dumps available if they are deemed necessary.
