Bug Description

Hello,

We have a P3A which contains a package, libmikmod2, whose binary package version that differs from its source packages. What we see in the Packages index is as follows:

https://private-ppa.launchpad.net/oem-solutions-releng/oem-approved-updates/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/main/binary-i386/Packages

Package: libmikmod2
Source: libmikmod
Priority: optional
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 360
Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers <email address hidden>
Architecture: i386
Version: 3.1.11-a-6ubuntu3.9.04.1

https://private-ppa.launchpad.net/oem-solutions-releng/oem-approved-updates/ubuntu/dists/jaunty/main/source/Sources

Package: libmikmod
Binary: libmikmod2-dev, libmikmod2
Version: 3.1.11-6ubuntu3.9.04.1
Section: libs

As you can see, the version in the Packages index does not match what's in the Source index. What we expect in the Packages index for libmikmod2 is as follows:

Package: libmikmod2
Priority: optional
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 360
Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers <email address hidden>
Original-Maintainer: Ingo Saitz <email address hidden>
Architecture: i386
Source: libmikmod (3.1.11-6ubuntu3.9.04.1)

Otherwise, we are unable to derive the correct source package from the binary.

This is deployed, but existing indices have not been regenerated. The next update to the problematic distroseries and archive will fix them.

Was there a regression? I encountered this problem again today. The source and binary version differ but its not reflected in the Package indice for libmikmod2 as it should be. What I'm seeing right now is:

Package: libmikmod2-dev
Source: libmikmod
Priority: optional
Section: libdevel
Installed-Size: 724
Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers <email address hidden>
Architecture: i386
Version: 3.1.11-a-6ubuntu3.9.04.1
...

When in fact, I should be seeing,

Package: libmikmod2-dev
Source: libmikmod (3.1.11-6ubuntu3.9.04.1)
Priority: optional
Section: libdevel
Installed-Size: 724
Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers <email address hidden>
Architecture: i386
Version: 3.1.11-a-6ubuntu3.9.04.1
