It appears that the updates did finish. Just opened a terminal and ran dist-upgrade, which didn't have anything to upgrade.

Thanks for taking the time to report this. Can you run the update-manager in a terminal and paste the error output?

Sure, what do I have to do to do that?

Just open a terminal and type in:

update-manager

then press enter. It should spit out a lot of lines. Copy them and paste them to your next post.

Hmm, did update-manager crash when you did this or did it run as expected?

It ran as expected. I will have to wait till updates are available. Then I
will be able to have it crash.

It crashed as soon as updates were installed. I'll upload term.log in a few minutes.

I recently changed /etc/apt/sources.list so it is set for Oneiric, so the output might not be very helpful.

That is what apt-cache policy python-aptdaemon-gtk produces.

Run the following and make sure it installs successfully:

sudo apt-get install python-aptdaemon-gtk

Then see if the update-manager crashes anymore.
