Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird-gnome-support

Title says it.

Currently, when libnotify-bin is not installed, and thunderbird-gnome-support is, an error message keeps popping up complaining about some path (and not much more, I don't know the precise error right now).

Ubuntu natty beta

Sorry, but this is nothing to do with thunderbird. The error message is coming from an extension you have installed

I've no idea. You need to report extension bugs to whoever provides you the extension. In any case, if if you have downloaded an xpi from addons.mozilla.org and it depends on libnotify-bin, then there's not much the extension author can do about that other than tell you to install it (xpi's have no way to declare dependencies on distro-packages).

I'm guessing you are using something like https://addons.mozilla.org/af/thunderbird/addon/gnome-integration/

Chris Coulson: this extension is in the Ubuntu repositories (thunderbird-gnome-support) and, according to http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/thunderbird-gnome-support, this is the place where I should report bugs.

No, thunderbird-gnome-support is not an extension, it is a meta-package to pull in some gnome libraries. Nothing in it requires anything from libnotify-bin. The error message you see is from an extension you've installed from somewhere else.

Hello Ayke,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 750556

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
