You seem to be using Unity 2D. Changing package and project. I can't reproduce this bug in Unity 3D.

This is most likely because gparted needs to run as administrator, and bamf is unable to match applications not running under the current user.

Note that gparted can be *added* to the launcher when installing it from Software Center.

@Bilal: that’s right, gparted can be pinned to the launcher in unity, but it’s not persistent across sessions, so that’s rather useless. I believe that’s a bug (or is it a feature?) of unity that lets the user pin just any tile even when it’s not actually capable of associating them to a desktop file.

@Olivier Tilloy:

And what about VLC, I can't pin it to launcher? see attachment.
VLC not needs to run as administrator.

I had no problem putting synaptic on the launcher earlier. It comes up normally and asks for a password.

I most certainly do not us the USC. Takes way too long to do anything with it.

 @today: VLC’s was another issue that was apparently fixed in bamfdaemon’s latest update.

So this issue with gparted appears to be fixed in unity-2d (probably thanks to the latest update to bamfdaemon I was mentioning above). What surprises me is that it’s not fixed in unity, despite my test environment being fully up-to-date.

I’m marking invalid in unity-2d as no specific patch was required there. It probably needs further investigation to determine why it doesn’t work in unity.

I have no problem installing gparted, pinning it to the Launcher, or running it from the Launcher. This bug as described is clearly fixed in current Unity.

Marking as invalid since no change is required.
