Bug Description

Performing MT testing per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity/Testing/Multitouch

Doing this test case: http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Applications/Unity/Touch/OpenCloseDash

I tried both a four finger tap and a four finger click on my Magic Mouse but nothing happens at all. Not surprising as the three finger gestures don't work either on the Magic Mouse.

However, since the MM is fully MT capable, I am opening a bug and failing the test case.

Works here, do you have two-finger scroll working on the MT?

I can only get single finger horizontal and vertical scrolling working on this device.

Out of curiosity, Mark, are you using the Magic Mouse or the Magic Trackpad? I'm wondering still if this is just a limitation of the Magic Mouse or the driver for it that the Trackpad doesn't suffer from.

To be honest, I opened the bugs because the MultiTouch Testing request included the Magic Mouse in addition to the Magic Trackpad and other multitouch devices.

I should also add for clarity that on the off chance that my previous failure was a result of my testing system (it was an upgrade test initially from Lucid to Maverick to Natty Alpha with subsequent updates applied), I reinstalled the system using Natty Beta 1 as of 2 April. I attempted the touch gestures again on my Magic Mouse but none of them seem to work on a freshly installed Beta 1 system.

Hi Jeff,

The magic mouse is still an unsupported device. It's a completely different type of device from a trackpad or a touchscreen, so it requires special logic to make everything work right. We haven't had time to make it work right yet, so it still may only be used as a normal mouse. Hopefully we can tend to this for Oneiric.

Hi Chase,

Thanks for the clarification. I thought that may be the case, but since
Alex included Magic Mouse in the list of thing to test MT gestures with,
I went and opened bugs when things didn't work.

sabdfl says it work well for him with a Magic Trackpad, so I guess that
means a trip to Raleigh to buy a Trackpad is in order :-)

I just *hate* that I need to go buy new toys ;-)

I've updated the CFT to reference the magic trackpad instead of the magic mouse to prevent any further confusion.

Thanks for pointing tihs out!
