Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Description: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
Release: 11.04 amd64 natty-b1
ii unity 3.6.8-0ubuntu3
ii fglrx 2:8.840-0ubunt

This old bug from autumn 2010 is back again, only the ubuntu classic session is usable. Cause my radeon 5750 juniper is not supported with 3d in the free driver and unity enforce 3d i must use fglrx.
The unity sessions only brings a black screen that flicker with areas that show pieces of the wallpaper. Unity panel exist invisible, cause black blocks when moving over the icons, the bubblehelp cause black in the right place. I have tested this with a barely new created user, to guarantee empty config files. Have took a small video to look at it.
We had this bug on 10.10 netbook with intel gma, and it was on my thinkpad with radeon mobility. But there it was fixed after a while.

No changes with latest updates. Status high is urgent, cause users with newer radeons have no fallback options. Unity2d is not available and the free radeon driver give no 3d support to us.

Have the same Unity problem with FGLRX + Radeon HD4550, Ubuntu classic (Gnome desktop) works and can be used as a fallback option.

Reverted to 10.10, the ubuntu classic crossfires me with crash dialogues. policykit, plymouth, apport itself, programs did not have menus, compiz crashing away. That's a bit too much for me.....
