Good morning,

I am running Feisty Herd 4 and am having no problems w/ network manger and it is working fine for me, both on my laptop for wireless and my desktop for wired networks. Are you still having problems w/ this application or has the bug been resolved? Can you please update this bug? Also is your Feisty system up to date w/ the latest updates?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your help with network manager.

I have downloaded Feisty Herd 4 and it is detecting my wireless network card when it boots from CD, at the moment i can not install it.

The problem is when i configure the connection to the wireless network, Feisty is not able to configure my network card.I think Feisty should detect and connect to the wireless network when booting from CD, i really would want to know why it is not connecting to the wireless network.

Did you hear about wifi-radar?, it seems to be better than network manager for wireless networks, it is developed in python, may be you want to check how it works to improve the networkmanager wireless connection detection and configuration.

Here is the link to wifi-radar:http://wifi-radar.systemimager.org/

I hope my comments help to have a better kubuntu

Regards

Carlos Kassab

okay, for me knetworkmanager (knw) runs out of the box, recognizes my network card (MacBook) and helps to get me online in both wireless and wired setups.

Yet is often just disappears from the system tray, or it does not come up at all.
Like right now the icon is not in the tray. ps gives me:
$ ps ax|grep knetw
15224 ? S 0:02 knetworkmanager [kdeinit]

but since my wireless connection was already up i'm still online...

i have included the requested logs in a tar.

i forgot to mention that if i run knetworkmanager (as the default user, or as root) it returns back to the prompt in a millisecond: apparently without doing anything.

Hello Carlos,

backup and then edit the /etc/network/interfaces file to remove the configuration of these devices (except for lo which is needed for the loopback interface). You will have to save the file and reboot for the changes to take effect. For example, if you wanted Network Manager to be able to control all of your devices, your /etc/network/interfaces file would look somewhat like the following:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
