touchpad use causes logout 11.04 beta 1

Bug Description

Fresh install of Ubuntu 11.04 beta 1 i386 on compaq CQ60. Touch pad worked fine until I ran update manager and downloaded and installed the available updates. Now, any use whatsoever of the touch pad sends me to the login screen. USB mouse works fine.

Seems to be related to bug #747372, as that one also reports that after applying the latest updates the touchpad crashes the Xorg server, going back to the login screen.
