Bug Description

Binary package hint: auctex

There's a lot of discussion regarding auctex-11.86 and ghostscript 9.01 regarding preview of math formulas. Actually the current packages of ghostscript (9.01~dfsg-1ubuntu4) and auctex (11.86-2ubuntu1) in natty don't play together.

Here's one (of many) posts on auctex related lists regarding this issue: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/auctex/2011-03/msg00021.html

The common advice is either to downgrade ghostscript or to upgrade auctex.

I've installed a current version (source checkout as of 2011-03-27) of auctex and can report that preview mode works then.

Would be really nice to see a working combination of auctex/ghostscript in the finaly release of natty... :)

I can confirm this. This seems pretty important as the preview package is completely broken. Doesn't seem to be an easy fix.

Anyone reading this can try what I did by removing Ubuntu's provided auctex package and installing the snapshot version found here:
