Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

Hi,

I recently upgraded from Breezy to Edgy and post-upgrade started having rendering issues with my Nvidia Geforce4 MX card. I noticed these problems in both Quake 3 arena and Unreal Tournament. Quake 3 generated garbage on screen when rendering reflective surfaces and Unreal would render the background in front of the foreground. For example, in the facing worlds level in UT, asteroids that should have been occluded by the actual level would render in front of everything.

I did not have this issue using the Nvidia drivers under Breezy.

The fix: I upgraded to a newer version of the drivers from Nvidia's website and that seems to have fixed the problem.

FYI:
# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86 Kernel Module 1.0-9631 Thu Nov 9 17:38:10 PST 2006
GCC version: gcc version 4.1.2 20060928 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.1-13ubuntu5)

Thanks!
 -Jim.
