bubbles placed in the bottom-right corner cover the panel

Bug Description

every bubble created by default without position hints is placed in the bottom-right corner.
Unfortunately they cover the gnome-panel. They should appear just over the panel to not disturb the user

I can confirm this. Lots of programs, like gaim using gaim-libnotify, place their notifications on the bottom-right corner, ignoring the panel.

O.T.: where can I find gaim-libnotify? I've just tried svn but does
not seem to have libnotify handling

What version of Ubuntu is this in please? Does this happen all the time or just on start up?

My 64bit version seem fine all the yellow info bubbles are where they're meant to be. This maybe 32 bit specific I will pass it on.

I can confirm this as well. Notification bubbles appear on the bottom right if they are not attached to an icon. Using libnotify1 0.4.2-0ubuntu3 on 32 bit Edgy.

I discovered that this can be controlled using a gconf key (start
gconf-editor) /apps/notification-daemon/popup_location
I've set them to "top_right". They are now displayed in the top right
corner, but unfortunately they are hiding all the icons, so it is
still better to keep them bottom_right

The issue with gnome-power manager seems to have been fixed for feisty (Bug #61148), but libnotify still seems to show some notifications at the wrong place on Feisty.

Attached is a screenshot of this bug in action using an up-to-date Feisty installation with libnotify1 0.4.3-1.

See the notification bubble at the bottom right over the gnome panel.

I think gaim/pidgin's notifications not being attached to the icon is possibly intentional. A lot of people signing in in a short space of time (or multiple accounts) could be very distracting and are less likely to get in the way if they are in the bottom right

I confirm this behavior on Gutsy as well (libnotify1-0.4.4-3build1)

I can still confirm this bug in Hardy. I am unsure if it is intentional based on the program it displays for, but i would prefer at least some sort of option, or some config file i could edit....
