Bug Description

I recently performed an upgrade of ubuntu-one from 1.4.5-0ubuntu1 to 1.4.6-0ubuntu2. However, after restarting my computer I was having theme issues (my theme was being reset from Abiance to some weird default Gnome theme). I noted that the them was being reset as soon as the password prompt for giving ubuntu-one access to the keyring was shown on the screen. If I tried to access the ubuntu-one preferences window before the prompt, it would cause the change as well (as the prompt would show after it tried to connect).

I could re-enable my theme by loading the Appearance Preferences dialog (or by re-running the gnome-settings-daemon) and everything would be back to normal EXCEPT for Nautilus. After checking the install log, I came to the conclusion that the only thing that could be causing the issues from the update was Ubuntu-one. I uninstalled ubuntu-one and its dependencies and restarted. Everything worked fine. I reinstalled it, and I had the same theme issues. I went and uninstalled it again and installed version 1.4.4.1-0ubuntu1 and the problem disappeared. The password prompt would be displayed, however, my themes were correct, so it looks liked the issue was introduce between 1.4.5-0 and 1.4.6-0.

Here's the relevant lines from my install log:

python-ubuntuone-client:amd64 (1.4.5-0ubuntu1, 1.4.6-0ubuntu2),
ubuntuone-client:amd64 (1.4.5-0ubuntu1, 1.4.6-0ubuntu2),
libsyncdaemon-1.0-1:amd64 (1.4.5-0ubuntu1, 1.4.6-0ubuntu2),
ubuntuone-client-gnome:amd64 (1.4.5-0ubuntu1, 1.4.6-0ubuntu2),

There don't appear to be any other relevant messages in the syncdaemon logs.

WORKAROUND: Revert to the previous version.

Hello,

Could you please check whether gnome-settings-daemon process is crashing during the password prompt?

I suppose you are using Maverick release, testing the updated package now on VM. Flagging as Incomplete, waiting for gnome-settings-daemon info.

Changed in ubuntuone-client:

Looks like there is another bug report with the stacktrace, I am flagging this one as a duplicate of LP:744383
