Bug Description

I keep getting the following error message: There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at http://launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+filebug and retry. Can you help me fix this?

When I install Wine for running windows program, I met similar problem. That is, I can't install wine from the software center or from command lines. This is the bug detail:

    pm.get_archives(fetcher, self._list, self._records)
SystemError: E:I wasn't able to locate file for the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.

I don't appear to be able to install ANYTHING using the Ubuntu software centre (10.10).

Here are the details I'm getting, in case it helps.

I re-installed Ubuntu 10.10 today due to problems with 11.04 (windows jumping to a different position whenever I clicked the mouse), and am hoping I won't have to repeat the reinstall to correct this error.

Just reinstal the package apt in synaptic

Despite being a complete Linux Newbie, I was able to do as he suggested, reinstalling aptdaemon using Synaptic, and now everything seems to be ok.

It's not for the faint-hearted though. Things CAN go wrong, so be careful.

Trying to install nokununtusp (nokia suite) and get the same error as above.
Try to reinstall apt in synaptic but get the same error again.

i got the same error after installing wine 1.3, now i am unable to install/uninstall any software in ubuntu.
