When it comes to heap corruption, we need a valgrind trace as the gdb one is mostly helpless.

This bug is triggered, when a corrupt mkv file is played.

Can you provide a small sample mkv file that triggers the bug for you?

Of cause .. here you go.
If this is important, I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta 2 (nightly build) with vlc 2.0.1-4
If the bug isn't triggered after a minute - grab the slider - and try moving it - that should (at least in my case) - raise the bug.

I tried to reproduce the crash without luck on Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) amd64. The full file played without crashing and moving the slider didn't let it crash.

I tried it on a 32bit system (Asus Eee PC 1005PE), but VLC didn't crash. Something must be different between our systems.
