Seems Ubuntu's ptrace security enhancements are affecting warzone2100's internal backtrace generation, preventing the crash trace from containing any useful info. Please run 'gdb warzone2100' (without quotes) from a terminal and paste the output.

Fix this and they are present in versions 2.3.6 and later.
