Bug Description

elementary should have a fancy pants sound manager that does cool things like:

* pause my music if my headphones get unplugged
* remember the last volume I had with the headphones plugged in or not
* automatically fade out my music and pause it when I start watching a video

earcandy does some of these things although it is no longer maintained. It might be worth investigating to see if we should fork/take over earcandy or just make our own.

This would be a great addition to elementary OS. I always perform these tasks when using headphones and It'd be REALLY useful.

I've superseded this bug report with a blueprint. I think going forward it seems like the best way to add these features might be through PulseAudio modules.
