Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity-2d

I have created certain menu entries in my Gnome Menu, e.g. launching a Java Application via: java -jar "path/to/jar".

Expected behaviour:
-----------------------------
All my menu entries of the Gnome Menu are also displayed in Unity's Application Menu.

Behaviour Instead:
-------------------------
After switching to unity-2d, these entries are not in unity's application menu.
Even readding an entry via System->Mainmenu does not bring back my custom menu entries.

To my mind this is a bug, because users loose their custom entries from Gnome menu, as a real disadvantage.

Additional Information:
--------------------------------

Description: Ubuntu 10.10
Release: 10.10

Thanks a lot for the precise bug report.

Could you detail what you mean by "All my menu entries of the Gnome Menu are also displayed in Unity's Application Menu."? A screenshot would help a lot.

I added a screenshot comparing the Internet menu entry of the Gnome and the Unity Menu.
As you can see, the Gnome menu contains the custom entrys, created by myself but the only these custom entries are missing in Unity.

@TheGhost: It appears that you are running Ubuntu 10.10 (aka Maverick Meerkat). I committed some fixes for this to the upcoming 11.04 (aka Natty Narwhal) release and this feature should be working there. If you dare run the development series of Ubuntu I suggest you try out the latest development release (or the very-soon-to-hit-the-mirrors beta release).

Otherwise I'm afraid you have to wait it out for the stable release of 11.04, as this bug fix is unlikely to be backported to 10.10. Sorry for the inconvenience.
