Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

The animation- and fade-plugins of compiz need to be set to ignore the opening and closing of notification windows (notify-osd bubbles). Currently the opening of a notify-osd rendered notification-bubble flickers, because the two compiz plugins and notify-osd's own opening-animation conflict with each other. This is a regression from previous versions of Ubuntu, where we had excluding window-matching rules in place. As far as I remember the rule read like "title != notify-osd" or "name != notify-osd". I'm not 100% sure about the correct syntax of these window-matching rules. We had this as a distro-patch to the plugins default schema-files.

Odd, I just grep'ed through...

/usr/share/compiz/fade.xml
/usr/share/compiz/animation.xml

... and both contain "!(title=notify-osd)". Still the opening animation of every notification flickers. The closing animation works correctly. No clue at the moment why that could be.

Seems after a discussion that they are already ignored. Closing.
