Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,

It’s been some weeks now that each time I ask Evolution to display the ‘Sent Mail’ directory, it’s just not responding.
I’ve tried it many times, it always do the same thing.
It displays as the current job “message formating” (or something closed, I use the French version of it), but nothing moves in it.
I’ve once let it works for nearly an hour, but it doesn’t help.
I’ve tried with and without the Internet connection.

I’ve relatively recently played with the ability to add an avatar for my mail. Maybe it has something to do with it?

I don’t see any other helpful information, but if you need something, don’t hesitate.

Thanks.
Martin.

Are you sure that port numbers and such are correct, do any other folders (spam, drafts etc) work?

I’ve just check the port number. Yes, I think they are correct. (When I click on “check accepted protocol”, all servers answers.)

It seems that the bug appears as soon as all mails in a folder belongs to me: draft, sent mails do not work. But the other folder works well. (But some of them are empty.)
For the trash folder, it’s strange: There is only mails from me in it. When displaying some messages, it works, but when I display other it doesn’t. While experimenting, it seems that it freezes when the displayed message is from me and that it contains an attachment.
I’ve tested to send me two mails: one with an attachment and the other without. The first one is display without any problem, but the second one make Evolution freeze.
That’s strange because there is no problem when I display the mails from other people with an attachment…

Yes, I’ve experimenting and I haven’t seen any counter-example for a long: the problem appears as long as the mail I ask to display both have an attachment and it’s me that have send it, whatever the folder where the mails is.
Then evolution just freeze, trying to display it.
I’ve check with big and small attachments, with various file format (raw text, svg, gz, pdf, …) it always do the same thing.
I add some apport-bug informations of the program when it freezes.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about it at http://www.ubuntu.com/download . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
