Bug Description

Right now the minimize button shows a little line resembling the app minimized in a bottom task manager (horizontal line), that doesn't make sense in unity because unity panel is in the left. I think the button must show a little arrow pointing to the left (to the unity panel) instead of being a horizontal line.

I agree that this change would make sense for Unity as it currently is.

However, the change would become detrimental when the theme is taken out of the default current setup. For example, if Ambiance were to be used in GNOME Classic, or if at some point the Unity launcher's position were allowed to be moved to some other edge of the screen, the arrow pointing left would no longer make sense.

Then again, considering that support for anything besides Unity for the Light themes is not a priority (see the status of bug 879379 for an example), and that moving the launcher does not seem to be in consideration despite a third-party patch which allowed it in 11.10, I have a feeling these concerns would not be considered a problem.

For Unity, I personally think a "<" would look slick. But I also agree, it'd be out of context in almost any other shell.
