Bug Description

Ubuntu 10.10 desktop i386, fresh install (over Wubi):

I was typing a command in gnome-terminal and a split second before I pressed ENTER a dialog appeared.
And disappeared immediately, since I "confirmed" it.

It looked like an auth dialog asking for a password (prefilled).
Or maybe it was the NM dialog asking for the WLAN password.
Or maybe something completely else.
I have no clue, as it stole the focus and the keyboard input and disappeared before I could read it or even realize it's existence.

Are you able to see in the auth.log if there is anything that stands out?

Still happens in Ubuntu 11.04 (unity)

Fresh install or upgrade?

If it happens and you believe it is a password authentication box there should be a line in auth.log from very recently with what authenticated.

I believe it is general. Happens with all types of windows or dialogs.

Focus stealing is a general problem.

You can not just pretend it went away just because nobody made any more comments to the bug report.

The status is set to incomplete when there isn't enough information to investigate the issue and this will automatically expire the bug report after a certain period when there is no activity, this helps ensure we are always working on the latest bugs.

The problem is that I can't duplicate your GUI focus stealing issue, which suggests it might be a hardware problem or something else that I don't know about. Do you still have the issue if you install ubuntu on another computer?
