dash is very slow when showing a lot of icons

Following to Bug #737777, where multiple icons are shown for some applications, my application counter says "474 applications". When unfolding all applications, the scrolling of the list is very slow.

When scrolling in the dash compiz consumes 60-70% of my cpu. this is on a core2duo processor. On the other hand unity-2d which does not even use GPU, merely consumes 30-40% and is smoooth.

Agreed. My experience profiling Unity a few months ago showed that simple things like rendering icons, are done so inefficiently with the GPU in Unity-3D that rendering in software like Unity-2D would be much faster.

Hi,

thanks, but I've found a workaround: use windows 7!
Ubuntu is the reason, why I switched back to Windows after 10 years Linux as the only desktop system.
