Bug Description
Binary package hint: software-center
It's currently not at all straightforward to install Unity 2D from the Software Centre. When searching for 'unity' several "unity-2d" components are displayed. However, installing these does not provide the entire 2D environment -- several packages are hidden by default, including the main Unity 2D package.
Expected behavior:
1. Search for 'unity' in Software Centre.
2. Select Unity 2D package and click 'Install'.
3. Unity 2D is available as an option at next login.
Actual behavior:
1. Search for 'unity' in Software Centre.
2. Four results are returned -- 'unity' and three packages whose descriptions start with 'Unity 2D'.
3. Select each "Unity 2D" package and click 'Install'.
4. Log out and observe that no new sessions are available through GDM.
To actually install Unity 2D, the user must search for 'unity' and then click 'Show $num technical items". Then the main 'unity-2d' package is displayed and can be installed.
Hi! Thanks for your bug report. Unity-2d has a desktop file in app-install- data-ubuntu and hence now shows up correctly in software-center. Iirc, this was fixed in time for the natty release too. Please continue to report any bugs you may find in software-center. Thanks again for your help!
