Bug Description

I have OpenID registered in Launchpad. I tried to log in to some website using "pad.lv" instead of "launchpad.net" in my OpenID URL. Unfortunately it doesn't work.

Interesting bug.

I don't actually know whether it is possible for this to work in
OpenID, but if it is, I would be happy to support it.

It's arguably a security risk to you because pad.lv is not an official
Canonical service.

I didn't know that pad.lv is not official Canonical service. I thought it's just a service within Launchpad.

Anyway, I tried to login to http://www.livejournal.com using "http://pad.lv/~mpredotka" and it does work. :) Using "https" instead of "http" does not work.

Unfortunately, there's a problem with logging to my Drupal website. I have there my OpenID from Launchpad assigned to my administration account. But, if I use "http://pad.lv/~mpredotka" to log in, my site does not recognize me as an admin, only just as a new normal user. Maybe the problem is on the Drupal side.

I think there's a separate bug for https support.

I expect it's just comparing the URLs for string identity. It has no
way to know(?) that those two urls refer to the same person.

Depending on your point of view, this is either already fixed, or impossible to fix. You can use pad.lv/~yourname as your openid url, but applications won't see this as being the same as your launchpad one. If you see any way around this, please give me a reference and reopen the bug.
