Bug Description
When clicking System, Administration, Networking; I am not prompted for an administrative password. The network settings window appears, and a "wired connection" and a "modem connection" are listed. There is a "properties" button, but there are no "activate" or "deactivate" buttons. I am able to configure both the modem and the ethernet by clicking on "properties", but I cannot use them because there is no way to activate the connection.
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS was previously installed on this particular machine and Networking worked just fine. I erased the hard drive before installing Ubuntu version 6.10 for a clean installation.
