Evolution not fetching mail

Binary package hint: evolution

I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 10.01to 11.04 alpha 3. while upgrading i maintained all original version and no package maintainers version for configuration fles. Now when i open my evolution it had partially imported the old evolution and has taken all account settings. I am across a office proxy server and the system is connecting to INTERNET through this proxy. my mail account is POP/smtp.
When i click send and receive it does not fetch my mails from server and shows time out or shows no error.

Same thing with IMAP account. Evolution tries to download messages and fails. When starting evolution through terminal and trying to download messages, I get this error messages:

Note on the above.
First try is on a Natty behind a proxy configured globaly on gnome-proxy.
Second try at home has no proxy set up.

This is happening at home for me--no proxy. I've tried clearing local configuration files to no avail. I've also turned off its password memory and not gotten a password prompt.

xsession.errors says:

Looks like the ssh connection is timing out.

In Receiving Options I had Use Custom Command to Contect to Server checked and the field contained ssh -C -l %u %h exec /usr/sbin/imapd.

If I uncheck this, evolution appears to work.

I have to add that there is no /usr/sbin/imapd.
