Bug Description
When using Ubuntu Classic desktop mode, the Unity app menu (named "Indicator Applet Application Menu") is used, which places menus in the top panel instead of in each application as should be. This can't be configured properly by removing such applet, which used to be possible by right clicking on it, unlocking it and deleting it as described here:

Instead one has to completely remove the top panel and restore its applets to get back the Classic desktop behavior.
This is particularly problematic for users that will be upgrading and will be expecting to get back the classic desktop look & feel when choosing such an option.
