Bug Description

'''This is just a placeholder for the moment, so no one does anything drastic to the OpenClipart dialog. I am improving it to make it look like this http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/OCAL_Dialog_Re-Design . Patches, rationale etc. will come later'''

Very cool! This is the kind of thing that should be put into a blueprint, though. Think on starting one.

Keep in mind that the OCAL import dialog had some other serious bugs that forced it to be scraped from the code. Check the 'openclipart' tag.

The dialog still exists and works in linux and osx builds (in 0.48.x and current trunk) - it's only defunct (missing) in the Windows builds (see bug #174797).

Ah, ok ;) I thought it was disabled on all systems. Do you know if the dialog still can only import PNG or is SVG import fine?

AFAICT yes (I'm not a regular user of the OCAL import feature).

Confirmed. There was a bug in the previous Inkscape version (or in the website code, I don't remember exactly) that returned PNG images instead of SVGs, but it seems to be fixed now.

In archlinux (inkcsape 0.48) I don't see the menu entry for importing/exporting from openclipart.org, Though
"inkscape --verb=FileImportFromOCAL" opens the dialog, but it doesn't seem to work...
In my preferences I have "openclipart.org" as server name, no username, no password.
Checking in ubuntu (inkscape 0.48) the menu entry is here, with the same preferences....

MrMagne: Archlinux is one of those "fun" distros that has lots of special issues with Inkscape that other distros don't tend to have.

@MrMagne, sorry but that seems unrelated to this merge request, please file another bug

@ScislaC: What a useful comment ! but It doesn't help debugging your "serious" software with disappearing menus
@Andrew: I posted here because a previous comment seemed wrong to me (The dialog still exists and works in linux), So I'll fill a new bug
