pyc files in source tarball

While reviewing python-novaclient for deNEW, I noticed the following:

 ./tests/__init__.pyc: python 2.6 byte-compiled
 ./tests/test_images.pyc: python 2.6 byte-compiled
 ./tests/utils.pyc: python 2.6 byte-compiled
 ./tests/fakeserver.pyc: python 2.6 byte-compiled
 ./tests/test_servers.pyc: python 2.6 byte-compiled

It would be good if these were removed from the source and built during the build.

I've not been able to reproduce this on 2.6.1~bzr78-0ubuntu1. I get no .pyc files in debian/python-novaclient when building the package from source, and I've also downloaded and extracted https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-novaclient/2.6.1~bzr78-0ubuntu1/+build/2749319/+files/python-novaclient_2.6.1%7Ebzr78-0ubuntu1_all.deb and found no .pyc files there.

Could this have been resolved in an earlier fix?

Also, a resolution to bug 838298 may make this redundant.

Yes, this was true in python-novaclient_2.4.orig.tar.gz but was fixed in python-novaclient_2.6.1~bzr78.orig.tar.gz, if not earlier.
