Bug Description

Application menu files *.desktop in /usr/share/applications directory missing information like desktop startup notification ( no busy cursor while double click or start a application)

Applications such as RealPlayer, Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, Skype, Opera and so on do not show busy or wait cursor when they are started, since their *.desktop file do not contain StartupNotify=true line.

This problem is a hindrance to user friendliness because some apps do so while others not.

Hope, this get fixed in coming Ubuntu 11.04

I'm not sure how we can point this out to packages built by 3rd parties. I wonder if partners has a policy for this option.

I think one would have to contact all affected packages and their packagers to have them set this option.

I think we'll need one bug per offending package in order to get anything done.

Hi, a new acroread release (0.9.4) is available for update, could you give it a try and tell us if the problem persists?
If you still have this bug please set back the status to "new"
thanks
