Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Natty, Alpha 3

Compiz seems to crash quite often on me, and when it crashes, I completely lose the ability to interact with any of the windows because there is no fall-back to another window manager, e.g. Metacity. For some reason I also don't have any keyboard input anymore - I can click, but I cannot type anything anymore.

What I would expect is that when Compiz crashes, it immediately falls back to Metacity so I can at least continue working or saving open documents before relaunching GDM. As a workaround for now, I've made a desktop launcher that relaunches Compiz when double-clicking on it, but this surely can't be the solution.

BTW - Compiz seems to crash most often when opening or minimizing Evolution for some reason...

Thanks for the bug report. With the latest version of unity and compiz in natty this is not the case. Unity automatically restart after a crash.

Changed in compiz (Ubuntu):
