Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
I have a thinkPad X201 and Ultrabase x200 and a 24" LCD screen. The thinkpad is docked and a display port to HDMI adapter is hooked up to the cable that feeds the LCD. When I boot Natty (updated to today's latest packages), I get the login screen (gdm) and when I login, I get a black screen and can only see the cursor. This is similar to bug #383345.
I am willing to help in any way as this is my work machine and I need dual screens to be effective. BTW, this setup worked flawlessly with Maverick.

I discovered the problem. If I pres the "dual screen" button that comes on my think pad (F7), and I cycle a few times, I get the big screen and the laptop screen to go black with the cursor visible on both screens. Once I get in that mode, I can't get out of it until I reboot.
