Seems that your Keyring is closed.

Read this chapter from the Popper Help:
There must be a password for each user account. Characters are shown as

dots. Passwords are managed by Gnome-Keyring. When you key it in for the

first time or modify an existing password, all changes will be stored to

Keyring. Popper retrieves your passwords when checking for new emails.

Therefore the Keyring has to be unlocked at every start of a user-session

unless the password has been set to BLANK. If want to know more about

keyring you should take a look at the programm "Seahorse" or its

documentation. Seahorse can be found in Ubuntu menu:

system->preferences->passwords and encryption.

Hello macaque,

Popper is designed to run in GNOME environments.

I don't know if LXDE uses the gnome-keyring or another tool to manage passwords but Popper could also not be used the way we expect while designing it without the ayatana messaging-menu. I don't know if this is integrated in LXDE either.

Let's sum it up by saying that using Popper in a none GOME+ayatana environment is at least experimental - in most cases i think even not working.

Hello Everybody,

Popper runs perfectly under Ubuntu and Linux Mint:

A application that runs well in Gnome should run equally well in Lubuntu (LXDE).
If not, it's an application bug.

Seahorse is installed. Popper does not start in the LXDE environment.

Great!

I don't think the ayatana project is implemented in other
Desktop-Environments than GNOME - like LXDE. Popper is designed for
Ubuntu >= 10.04 because it uses the messaging-menu - that was the
initial idea of Ralf: a mail notificator that integrates in the
messaging-menu.

Good - but is there also GNOME-Keyring installed?

Hint(no support:) What does your shell say if you type in

dpkg --get-selections | grep keyring

> Popper does not start in the LXDE environment.
You said you have seen the use of Popper in Ubuntu. What are you
expecting in Lubuntu? Where shall you interact with Popper other than
the Messaging-Menu? In the newest version 0.26 there is given the option
to configure a desktop display, but like i said before: Popper is
designed for GNOME and if you want to use it under LXDE maybe it is
possible but it's not our intention - so it's up to you if you want to
use it there, but you are using it experimental then, without our
support. So please stop asking for support here. I'm sorry your
Desktop-Environment isn't supported by us. If you are/know a/some
python-programmer/s that want to help us making Popper ready for other
Desktop-Environments (or generally want to help) please contact us ;-).
Help is very welcome!
