Bug Description

Appearance of Places and Applications Dash launchers have obsolete old-style monochrome icons in grey colors, similar to very first Humanity tray icons. IMO it look inconsistant and they should be redone in new monochrome color hue like current indicator applets are made...

EDIT: On second thought, i thing there should be really only one dash in Unity. You should really merge them like i suggest in this rant in bug 730171

Thats not from Humanity... And definitely *not* the same style as Humanity tray icons.

FWIW, those icons resemble the Humanity regular icons since Humanity is, at present, the default icon theme.
When we get a new icon theme it makes sense in changing it.

affects: humanity → unity-asset-pool

i was pointing out that grey color.

very first humanity icons had also similar gray tray icons, but current ubuntu-mono icons have different color, not gray..

So, you are saying that the icon should not be grey? and it must be closer to the ubuntu-mono icon color?

Yes that was i suggesting. Not grey, but closer to current mono icons color.

But i would rather prefer if developers would kill them both. There should be only one Dash, accessible through Ubuntu button... Current state is a mess. 3 dashes is BS... no offense :)

I dont see how matching both the colors makes sense. The color of the ubuntu-mono icons was chosen specifically to fit the panel background color. But, the launcher uses a different color and the design is completely different...
Anywho.. setting the design task to new, they can make the final call on this.

Just adding "no offense" does not mean you can use profanity.. ;-) .

Uhm... i just got an idea regarging design of those icons.... mmm, but my english is not so good to describe it properly :(

Maybe lenses should be not all in the same squared like buttons like rest of the lauchers of apps. There should be a difference between regular launcher and lense button.

Lenses icons could be placed directly on unity launcher with monochrome icon and make it to look like it is carved into the launcher itself. Like on some Mac OS X applications, when text is like embossed/carved/engraved into surface. Then you could also add to those icons some backlight effect on mouse hover...
