FWIW: I've been looking into this for a few days, and it appears that it may be better to fix this in Nux than in Unity. The nux::TextEntry object that Unity uses doesn't have any public methods for controlling the blinking cursor. However, in the TextEntry.h, there are some commented methods that appear to be just for this blinking cursor.

We have the code for flashing cursor turned off in Unity2D. Constant flashing of the cursor uses a surprising amount of CPU for us. Thus a reasonable solution would be to do like gnome-terminal, and only have the cursor flash 3 times and then stop.
