Bug Description

I do not know if this is normal operation or a bug, perhaps someone more familiar with how it is supposed to work can decide.

Now, with 0.10.6.1 *AND* the nebula add-on pack from --

http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Nebula_images
http://sarcasmogerdes.dyndns.org/stellarium/uploads/stellariumnebulae-1.zip

I cannot search for LMC or LARGE MAGELLANIC CLOUD
or
SMC or SMALL MAGELLANIC CLOUD

The F3 Find Object function seems to require a working internet connection to complete those searches.
Having no internet connection just results in the search box returning nothing, no hints, no partial name completions.

Doing a search using NGC 292 for the (small magellanic cloud) seems to work fine with or without an internet connection.

Stellarium does not crash, and all other searches form the F3 box seem to work correctly. At least the ones I've tried so far.

When I say working correctly, I mean the F3 search box works with or without an internet connection.

There are two forces at play here:

First is the way Stellarium handles nebulae. The images are separate and independent from the nebula catalog. This means that you can have the image of a certain nebula (for example, from a third-party nebula texture pack), but if it's not in the nebula catalog, it can't be selected or searched for. Stellarium's nebula catalog covers the NGC, but the NGC does not contain the Large Magellanic Cloud. There's also a separate file that matches human-readable names and Messier numbers to the NGC numbers used in the main catalog. The SMC is not included in that file for some reason.

The Search feature also performs an implicit on-line search in the SIMBAD astronomical database, that's why sometimes you can get search results that are not objects in Stellarium's databases. If after the search the view swings to some pair of coordinates, but no object is selected, this has been a SIMBAD search result.

As the main problem seems to be with finding the Magellanic clouds, I'm going to change the title of this bug report.

Still cannot find SMC or LMC without an internet connection.

Just wondering what the fix entailed?
