The opacity setting for the unity panel is fantastic but we should enable the effect also for panel's menu otherwise the result is orrible

If you can't add the software center to the dash you can add it by default to the launcher!

I would also point out this graphic bug that occurs when you maximize an application like firefox (or chrome, for ex.): transparency does not work with all window!

If you set the transparency to 50% you will notice that the menus won't adapt the style adequate. It's ok when the menus highlight a bit more but the should respect the transparency settings of the panel in any case. Otherwise this looks like the view is damaged (See screenshot). Also the border of the menu is also to harsh. Maybe the lower edges should be round... There need to be some more considerations regarding this topic.
