Bug Description

" / " in mb title data is incorrectly split into Artist / Title. So a track titled "Foo / Bar" will show up with Foo as the artist, and Bar as the title.

Thank you for your bug. Do you have an example of disk having that problem? What version of Ubuntu do you use?

I found the bug with track 9 of the Final Fantasy XII soundtrack, disc 1. The track is titled "The Royal City of Rabanastre / Town Ward Upper Stratum".

It looks to me like there's some old code for parsing CDDB data still sticking around. libjuicer/sj-metadata-musicbrainz.c, artist_and_title_from_title() complete with comment:
/* Data imported from FreeDB is horrendeous for compilations,
 * Try to split the 'Various' artist */

Thank you for the reply, probably something to forward upstream, opening an upstream task for the bugsquad team

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Also the issue that you reported is one that should be reproducable with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Gutsy Gibbon. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help

This is no longer a problem for me, in Gutsy. I can't (or don't know how to) mark it as a duplicate of #57941. Feel free to do so, or simply close it.
