Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Whenever i open CompizConfig Settings Manager (i suspect there are other ways to trigger the problem also), Edge Flip Pointer stops working (the problem persists even if i then close the CompizConfig window) -- if i move the cursor to the edge of the screen, i don't flip to the next viewport. Dragging any window fixes the problem (even attempting to alt-drag a maximized window), and then if move the pointer to the edge of the screen, it flips normally again.

Thanks

Same issue here, although in unity the mouse cursor alone will never trigger a switch if moving to the top of the screen. I assume that this is due to the trigger being blocked by the top bar. Moving down to the bottom of the screen have identical issues to the original poster, on my system.

Same here. I've found that after each flip I can't make another flip until I focus a window by clicking it's title bar.

I just posted a comment that might provide a workaround to this issue, over on Bug 771448: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/771448/comments/5

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Compiz, in particular, is in heavy development and this bug may have been fixed in the development version of Ubuntu (12.04) if not on your current version. If you are able, it would be of great help if you could confirm if the bug still exists by testing a livecd (available at ubuntu.com). When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. If you are unable to test the development version, please let us know if you are able to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 11.10.

Thank you for your help and patience.
